I could take my radio with me on holiday which would put me somewhere near Seaton in Devon this weekend. |

A worthy cause, but it will be a miracle if we make contact!
Cardiff to Chatham is definitely
EXTREME
DX for a PMR446 radio, even if I am 400ft ASL! |

Trust me when I tell you it would be a miracle unto God Almighty if we made contact on PMR446 radios from our respective locations!
Give it a go anyway, you might make some contacts locally. |

Hi Spotty
I've been going to a local high-spot on weekends for about 4 years now with various radio equipment (inc PMRs) In that time I have only ever made one decent contact of approx 18 miles (a personnal best!!!)
Made a few more local contacts but none at all to other radio hobbyists!!! It would be great if a few more like minded people read your post and got active!!
You won't be hearing me this weekend tho as I'm in hertfordshire and secondly I can't get out on my bike/car due to a broken arm (I must take more water with it!!!!)
All the best and good DX!

Hi Spotty
I live in a place called Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, it's about 15 miles north of central London. A lot of miles (and terrain) between me and you so a contact would be EXTREMELY unlikely!!!
From my fav high spot I have a clear line of sight view across east, southeast London and into north Kent. I do travel down to Bristol/ north Somerset coast on the odd occation, if I get down that way i'll let you know in advance. A trip across the Bristol channel on 446 is more likely than a trip from Hertfordshire!!!!
Cheers for now and good luck on the week-end

You are in the privileged position to be witnessing the evolution of language...
In the past it took decades or even centuries, now it takes a mere generation (20 years). |

Eventually everybody will write like that, dictionaries will be half the size, and the thumb on the dominant hand (right for right-handers) will evolve and increase in length and muscle power from txtng.
Either that or all be replaced by something else in 20 years.
